This 19 year old female had a prominent ear deformity since birth. It detracted from her facial symmetry. Her ear protruded too far from her head and had a poorly developed antihelix. Her correction was accomplished under local anesthesia, by rasping the front part of the cartilage where the normal fold should be and placing sutures on the back side of the cartilage to bend the cartilage backward and hold it permanently. Her post operative photos were taken 3 weeks after her surgery showing excellent symmetry with her opposite ear.
