Upper Arm Lift Brookline-Brachioplasty
Conveniently located to serve Brookline
These days, many of us have flabby, sagging upper arms. Oftentimes, no matter the amount of diet and exercise will ever be able to address the specific area of the upper arm when the skin has lost elasticity and unwanted fat deposits give the arm a loose, sagging look.
That’s not to say that exercise won’t strengthen the muscles of the arm and proper diet won’t target some of the unwanted fat deposits. However, diet and exercise alone will never fully resolve the issue of sagging skin that has lost its elasticity and the role that genetics or heredity plays.
For these reasons, cosmetic surgeons have developed the arm lift procedure, or brachioplasty, to remove excess skin and fat, tightening the sagging, drooping arm.
- Written onJune 9, 2017 Dr. Darrow and Helen are phenomenal. The care and service I received before, during and after my precedence was A+++. I would not hesitate to recommend the clinic. Really a wonderful experience for something that would otherwise be a stressful process.
What Is an Upper Arm Lift Surgery?
An arm lift surgery aims to reshape the upper arm from the underarm to the elbow.
An arm lift can:
- Reduce the excess skin and fatty deposits that hang between the elbow and the armpit
- Tighten your upper arm so that the skin is smooth and taut
- Balance the proportion and scale of your upper arms to match the scale of the rest of your body
Ideal Candidates for an Upper Arm Lift
The arm lift procedure may be right for you if you:
- Are a fully mature adult with dramatic loss of elasticity in the skin of the upper arm
- Have achieved a relatively settled weight that is not considered obese
- Are relatively healthy, free of any major disease or any illness that could complicate surgery or recovery
- Do not smoke
- Have realistic expectations for the results of the arm lift procedure
Your Brachioplasty Consultation
You and Dr. Jeffrey Darrow will discuss your aesthetic goals during your initial appointment. You will be informed about the treatment approach that will be performed, and the possible outcomes will be discussed.
Dr. Darrow will perform a physical evaluation of your upper arms. A discussion of your medical history, any current medications, and any underlying conditions will be done to assess your overall health. You will also be asked about any previous surgeries. Photographs may be taken so you can see the difference after surgery.
Your Upper Arm Lift Surgery
Anesthesia will be administered to eliminate any potential pain or discomfort during your arm lift surgery. Incisions will then be made on the target area. The length of the incisions will depend on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. It may be done in combination with liposuction to remove excess fat in the area.
Once the desired contours are achieved, internal sutures will be used to tighten the underlying tissue. The skin will then be smoothed over your arm.
Brachioplasty Recovery and Healing
Arm lift surgery requires a short recovery period. Bandages and compression garments will be wrapped around your arms to minimize side effects. Expect swelling and bruising for a few days after your surgery. Drains may be placed under your skin to remove excess fluid or blood.
You will be given specific instructions on how to care for your bandages and drains. You may be prescribed oral prescriptions like painkillers and antibiotics.
Upper Arm Lift Cost
The cost of brachioplasty varies from one patient to another, since it is a highly individualized procedure. The total price will be impacted by the anesthesia used, surgical fees, and other charges. You may ask for an estimate during your consultation with Dr. Darrow.
