The Rhinoplasty Procedure
Now, let’s take a look at what the procedure itself will entail:
- Anesthesia will be administered either intravenously with sedation or through general anesthesia.
- Incisions will be made either inside of the nose (closed procedure) or across the narrow strip of tissue between the nostrils (open procedure).
- The nose will then be reshaped to the desired result, often through cartilage grafted from another part of the body. If the obstruction is the issue, the nose will be straightened and aligned to clear the airway.
- The incisions will be closed and the nose will be put in a splint.
- Swelling will continue to go down over the following weeks, though it may take up to a year for your final results to settle.
